  • How Acupuncture Works.

While acupuncture is a relatively new healing technique in the west, various forms of acupuncture and herbal medicine have been practiced in China, Japan, Korea, and other Asian countries for over 2,000 years. The idea of being able harness our bodies’ own energy for healing has existed in numerous cultures for thousands of years. Acupuncture treatment utilizes sterilized, filiform, stainless-steel needles, about the width of a human hair, inserted into specific points on the body. These needles are inserted just below the skin and into the tissue below to move the body’s vital energy (Qi) and help facilitate the body healing itself. Both The National Institutes of Health and The World Health Organization recognize the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating a variety of ailments including acute and chronic pain, gynecological disorders, respiratory illness, gastrointestinal illness, and headaches.

  • Acupuncture Treatment.

At your first treatment a comprehensive intake will be done including identifying your health concerns and goals, taking of a complete medical history, and the reading of Chinese pulses and tongue diagnosis. Treatment may consist of acupuncture alone or used in combination with other techniques and modalities such as electroacupuncture, guasha, cupping, and moxibustion. The length and frequency of treatment will depend on the specific concerns and how long they have been present. It is common for acupuncture treatment to take 5 or more treatments over a number of weeks for significant improvement or resolution to be seen. Consistency is key. I am committed to the work of healing and hope that you also will be committed with your time and patience.

  • Inner Pass Wellness.

Inner Pass is the English translation of the name for the 6th Acupuncture point on the pericardium channel (PC-6). PC-6 is a powerful point used for a variety of conditions ranging from depression and anxiety, to nausea and vomiting, as well as many other conditions involving the Shen (mind), the Qi of the chest, and the stomach. The name evokes a path of healing that we all have inside of ourselves.
